Signing off 2020 with a Monogram!!!

 Heya folks!!!

Signing off 2020 with a post that was a order that was completed in 2 hrs time and shipped the same day. It was a surprise for Deepika Ghodki from Prithvi Hemanth.

Prithvi is a my best friends younger brother and he is like family to me. He texted me one night asking for suggestion for gifting his colleague during his Christmas celebrations (Secret Santa) at office. Prithvi didnt want to get something from online platforms as a gift for her, instead wanted something extremely personalized. Since Deepika is also a creative person who has a page named justsparetimethings, we decided to recreate one of her digital art into a monogram. Here's a pic of Deepika's work that I decided to mimic.

This is a 8 inch monogram. Added some tissue papers with gel medium to the base to add some interest since I didn't want to add texture unnecessarily. Wanted to keep it simple.

Have used various camlin acrylic paints to mimic her digital art. Used Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz layered wildflower stencil to get some dimension. Also added some gesso splashes. Added some diamond dust to add some interest to the background.

The name itself is heat embossed using Ranger_ink white embossing powder. The whole monogram is then given a coat of varnish to seal it.

This is the final outcome.

Do leave your thoughts about the same.

This was the last project for 2020. This year has been a trying year for everybody and we had to deal with situations we never thought of but here's hoping 2021 will be a better year filled with more light and health.

KIds activity stall!!!

Heya folks,

Had a kids activity stall at JW Marriott Whitefield today.

It was a fun filled tiring event. This is the stall before it all began.

So here a few details and pics from my yesterday's activity stall. I did a activity stall after a long time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Enthusiastic kids and elders wanting to try all the activites.

The activites were recycle tin can earrings, beaded bookmark making, quilling flower magnet, envelope and card designing and pencil toppers. The most hit activity was recycle tin can earrings.  Looking forward to many such events.

Jungle themed monogram

 Heya folks,

I recently had an opportunity to sponsor an virtual meet for the Endowomenpower group. This was a fun event with lots of activity, fun and frolic.

I had a make something special for a lady who won one of the contests. The brief given was that Dr. Ashwini loves wildlife and has done a lot of work around it. So thus I made this jungle themed monogram for her.

Haven't done something like this before.

Started with cutting out the shape 'A' out of cardboard and creating texture with tissue.

Primed it with gesso and added more texture using Craftangles stencil which was apt for this theme.

Later cut out silhouettes of various animals out of golden glitter sheet and grass and placed them strategically on the alphabet.

Added some vines to increase the textures and interest. Used Ranger ink perfect pearls to add a golden glow to the background.

Also added the name using heat embossing technique. It was all coated with varnish.

Here's a look at the project.

Here's a close up video of the same.

Do let me know your thoughts regarding these.

 Heya folks,

Packing orders is a important step since all the hardwork that went into making the special gift needs to reach the owner in a good condition.

Thus made a few changes to my packaging procedure.

Upcycled trunk-2

Hi Folks,

When I was a kid while going to school I would collect these red seeds that had fallen on the ground and bring them back home to put in a vase. My mom saved them through all these years and I finally found a way to use them in a project.

Here's sharing my second upcycled trunk.

I wanted to do something different than the first one so I tried some stamping and brush lettering.

Used @mudracraftstamps stamps ferns and leaves to make the sides and for the top portion used madhubani borders to make the initial impressions which were later extended and finished using a brush due to the uneven surface of the box.

Used chipbords, chalkpaints, seashells, gold glitter from @itsybitsycraftstore.

To add interest used rose gold deco foil. Also added some elements from my stash.

A final coat of wood varnish protects this transformed trunk from any damage.

Let me know your thoughts on this one.

I have started working on my next trunk and I am excited about it.

Mixed media nameplaque- Shruthi and Sarath

 Heya folks,

Mixed media nameplaque made as a wedding anniversary gift from her to him.

This order came in during our times if self isolation. Handmade gifts always mean that the person who you are gifting it to, is worth the world to you. No other gift beats handmade.

This nameplaque has the names made from Quilligraphy technique and the baseboard has been made with mixed media techniques.

Thank you so much for the order @shruthip2308 . Glad I was able to be able to make this for you.

Upcycled trunk-1

Heya Folks,

This project uses a 25+ year old wooden packaging trunk and changes it to be used as a decorative piece.

A project that I finally started. A long pending one to upcycle the packaging trunks at home that hve travelled far and wide with us through almost 25+ years. This is how this first one in the upcycled trunk series turned out. Used mixed media techniques to complete this one.

After it's makeover it's now occupying a space in our home that uplifts the mood of the room.

Utilised Gesso, decoupage napkins, mulberry flowers, texture paste, deco foils, brushlettering, chipboards and viva decor paints to finish the project.

Happy to have started on with this project series.

Many more boxes to come.
